Building with Blocks
搭积木
Mom: Let's build with blocks this afternoon.
妈妈：今天下午咱们搭积木吧。
Why don't you go ahead and dump them out on the living room rug?
你去把它们倒在客厅的地毯上吧。
Child: Okay! Can we build something new this time?
宝宝：好的！这次我们能搭一些新东西吗？
Mom: Sure. I'll show you how to build a few things.
妈妈：当然。我来教你搭一些东西。
Teapot 茶壶
Child: What's first?
宝宝：先搭什么？
Mom: Hm, let's try a teapot first.
妈妈：嗯，咱们先试试搭个茶壶。
I'll call out what we need and you pick them out.
我来说咱们需要什么，你把它们挑出来。
A large triangle, a small triangle, two squares, two semi-circles, a rectangle, and a longer and wider rectangle.
一个大三角、一个小三角、两个正方形、两个半圆、一个长方形和一个更长更宽的长方形。
Child: I have them all.
宝宝：我找齐了。
Mom: Alright, let's start at the base, the long, flat rectangle.
妈妈：好的，我们从底座长长扁扁的长方形开始。
Then, the smaller rectangle.
然后是小一些的长方形。
Child: The squares go next!
宝宝：接下来是正方形！
Mom: Yes, and then we top it with the large triangle pointing up.
妈妈：是的，然后我们把大三角放在上面，尖朝上。
Child: What about the handle?
宝宝：茶壶把儿怎么办？
Mom: Good question!
妈妈：好问题！
We put the semi-circles together so that they look like Pac-man
我们把半圆放在一起，让它们看起来像吃豆人，
and put the opening of his mouth on the body of the teapot.
然后把他的嘴的开口处放在茶壶上。
Last, we put the little triangle on the side to make the spout.
最后，我们把小三角放在旁边做壶嘴。
Child: So we can "tip me over and pour me out!" just like the song!

Mom: Exactly!
妈妈：没错！
Butterfly 蝴蝶
Mom: Let's do the butterfly next.
妈妈：接下来我们搭蝴蝶。
We will need two semi-circles, two cylinders, 10 squares, and two small triangles.
我们需要两个半圆、两个圆柱、10个正方形和两个小三角。
Got them?
找到了吗？
Child: Yes.
宝宝：嗯。
Mom: Good! Let's start with the butterfly's body.
妈妈：好的！咱们从蝴蝶的躯干开始。
We will lay the two cylinders on top of one another,
我们把两个圆柱摞起来，
so they make one very tall cylinder.
变成一个高圆柱。
Child: Do the semi-circles go on the top?
宝宝：半圆是放在最上面吗？
Mom: Yes, they make the antennas.
妈妈：是的，用它们当触角。
We use all those squares for his wings.
我们用这些正方形做他的翅膀。
Make two big squares using 4 small squares each.
用4个小正方形做两个大正方形。
Then, place them beside the top cylinder, one on each side.
然后，把它们放在上面的圆柱旁边，一边放一个。

Child: What about the bottom wings?
宝宝：下面的翅膀呢？
Mom: What do you think we should do?
妈妈：你觉得我们该怎么办呢？
Child: How about one square on each side of the bottom cylinder?
宝宝：在下面的圆柱两边各放一个正方形怎么样？
Mom: Yup! And then we will add a small triangle right above the bottom squares with the bases of the triangles touching the cylinders.
妈妈：嗯！然后，我们在下面的正方形上放一个小三角，三角的底部挨着圆柱。
Child: Ta-da！
宝宝：塔哒！
Truck 卡车
Child: Can we do one more, Mommy?
宝宝：我们能再搭一个吗，妈妈？
Mom: Sure. How about a truck for the last thing we build today?
妈妈：当然。咱们今天最后一个搭卡车怎么样？
We will need 4 cylinders, a small triangle, 2 long, flat rectangles, and a cube.
我们需要4个圆柱、一个小三角、两个长的扁长方形和一个方块。
Child: I have them all.
宝宝：我都找到了。
Mom: Awesome. First, let's start with the wheels.
妈妈：很好。首先，咱们从轮子开始。
Line up the four cylinders all beside each other.
把四个圆柱一个挨一个排成一排。
Then, put the two rectangles longways, with their short ends touching, across the cylinders.
然后，把两个长方形竖着放，短边相接，摆在圆柱上。
Nice work!

Child: The triangle, and the cube will be the truck cab!

Mom: Great! Now you can build a teapot, truck, and butterfly with your blocks.
